TADPOLE Pennsylvania Results

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, the massive dataset in Project TADPOLE Pennsylvania was completely categorized within one month. After going through some of the ambiguous images that you could not agree on and crunching all the numbers, we finally have the results! This first stage of FrackFinder consisted of 2,963 sites permitted for fracking in the Marcellus Shale region of Pennsylvania. Using state drilling data and high resolution aerial photography for 2005, 2008, and 2010, a total of 1,420 well pads were found and mapped -- 60 well pads in 2005, 410 new well pads in 2008, and 950 additional new well pads in 2010.
